Lauren and Alexander’s Sophisticated Kitch Wedding

This was by far the most creative and unique wedding I have ever had the pleasure to work on. Lauren and Alexander along with both of their families were an absolute delight to work with. The wedding took place on her mother’s Long Island estate. The sprawling waterfront property, complete with sculptures and sanctuaries designed by the brides mother Ronnie, along with a full moon created the perfect backdrop for a beautiful evening. Each of the 16 tables that sat under the Sperry Tent were named after some of the couples favorite song titles and were dressed with different place-settings from Ronnie’s antique dishes collection. Kelly Guenther and her photography team did an amazing job of capturing the festivities and special moments. Karen Lenahan Designs provided floral arrangements and décor. Invitations, Programs, Table records and labels provided by Fat Cat Paperie. DJ Shakey (Julie Covello) provided a NYC club vibe with the help from sound by Ages Events. I don’t think I’ve ever organized or attended a wedding or event where there were always people on the dance floor. Guest’s taste buds were delighted by delicious and artfully crafted courses by Peter Ambrose at Food for Forks. And for dessert the bride and groom decided to opt-out of the traditional wedding cake and instead served their guests individual fruit pies provided by Sugar Sugar. It was a truly Unforgettable Event. Congratulations Lauren & Alexander!

Plan your Wedding Day or Special Event

Whether you just got engaged or have a special event to plan you’re probably wondering where and how should you begin. Many couples build their plans around a date or venue and in the process miss out on a really great opportunity. In my experience, the most memorable occasions are those that have a personal touch. So before searching the web and going through all the bridal magazines sit down with your fiancée or co-hosts and discuss ways in which this occasion can reflect who you are as a couple (or group). Build your day around something or someplace that has special meaning to you. And remember, while this is a special day you don’t have to take yourselves so seriously, hobbies and favorite pass-times can provide excellent themes. Whether it’s a favorite season, interest, a special place or family tradition, with forethought and planning you can use what ever it is that defines you or this occasion to create a beautiful, and most of all, memorable event.

Check in next week when we explore one possible theme.

Need more ideas? Or do you have a really great theme to share? Tell us about it in the comments section.
